Formcast Fitness Get it on the App StoreApp Store

iPhone only · free trial

Your whole session, one set at a time.

Formcast puts the next set on screen — weight, reps, rest timer, plate math — logs it, catches your PRs, and keeps your calories and targets moving with your actual weight trend. Lifting, nutrition, and progress in one app.

Starts with a free trial, then a subscription billed through your Apple ID. The trial length and current price are shown in the App Store and in the app before you’re charged. There is no free tier after the trial.

Onboarding: set your starting weight and first check-in photo.

Guided lifting

You see one set. Not a spreadsheet.

Formcast walks the session set by set, so the only decision left is whether to press play on the next one.

  • Rest timer starts the moment you finish a set.
  • Plate calculator tells you what to load on each side of the bar.
  • Warm-up ramp calculator builds the ramp up to your working weight.
  • Automatic PR detection — Formcast notices the record; you don’t have to remember it.
  • Per-exercise history so you know what you did last time on this movement.
  • A 1,323-exercise GIF library for when you’re not sure what the movement looks like.

Programs

Four ways to get a program.

Whether you already know exactly what you want to run or you have no idea, there’s a way in.

Pick a prebuilt plan

Start from a plan that’s already assembled and start lifting today.

Build your own

Choose the days, the movements, the sets and reps. Full manual control.

Have AI generate one

Answer a few questions about your goal, experience, and available days, and Formcast drafts a plan you can edit.

Paste the program you already run

Drop in your existing routine as plain text — the one in your notes app or the one your coach sent — and Formcast parses it into a structured, trackable plan.

Nutrition & targets

Log the meal in the way that’s fastest right now.

Four logging paths, because the fastest one changes depending on whether you’re at a restaurant, in your kitchen, or eating the same lunch for the fifth day running.

  • Photo AI analysis — take a picture of the plate and get an estimate of calories and macros.
  • Barcode scan for packaged food.
  • Manual macro entry when you already know the numbers.
  • Quick-log from recents for the meals you eat constantly.
  • AI diet plan if you want the day laid out for you.

Photo and barcode results are estimates, not lab measurements. You can correct any entry before it’s saved.

Adaptive targets

Your calorie target follows your actual weight, not a formula from week one.

Formcast starts with a Mifflin-St Jeor estimate of your total daily energy expenditure — the standard equation built from your height, weight, age, and sex. That’s a starting point, and starting points are wrong for plenty of people.

So it doesn’t stay fixed. As your weight trend comes in over the following weeks, Formcast adjusts the target to match what your body is actually doing. If the scale isn’t moving the way the equation predicted, the number moves instead of you being told to try harder.

Weekly league

A weekly leaderboard where a 130 lb lifter and a 240 lb lifter can both win.

Every week you’re placed in a 10-slot league. Your score comes from the activity Apple Health already records — you don’t log anything extra for it.

Why raw calorie burn is a bad scoreboard

A heavier body burns more energy doing the identical workout. Rank people on raw burn and the leaderboard mostly ranks bodyweight.

Formcast normalizes for that using Kleiber’s law: metabolic rate scales with body mass to the power of ¾, not linearly. Scoring energy burn against metabolic mass instead of raw mass means effort competes with effort.

Illustration of the normalization only — not real user data, and not actual in-app score values.

180 lb760 kcal2ndComparable
240 lb920 kcal1stComparable

Straight answer about who’s in your league

The weekly league is partly populated by bots. It is a scoreboard to push against week to week — not a social network, not a friends list, and not a guarantee that the names beside yours are people. We’d rather say that here than let you find out later.

Progress

Evidence that the last eight weeks happened.

  • Weekly photo check-ins — a standing record you can scroll back through.
  • Statistics on your lifts, weight, and consistency over time.
  • Muscle-group volume audit — which groups you’re actually training and which ones your program keeps quietly skipping.

Future-body visualization

An illustration of where this could go — clearly labelled as an illustration.

From a check-in photo, Formcast uses Google Gemini to generate AI images of a possible future version of you at 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, and 5 years. It’s there for the same reason people tape a photo to the fridge: it makes an abstract goal concrete.

To be completely clear about what this is: these are AI-generated pictures, not a forecast. They are not a medical, clinical, or scientific prediction of your body, they don’t know your genetics, health, or training history, and nothing about seeing them makes the result happen. Real outcomes depend on training, food, sleep, health, and time. Treat the images as motivation, not as a promise — and talk to a doctor, not an app, about anything medical.

On your iPhone

Built for one platform, properly.

Home Screen widget

Your day at a glance without opening the app.

Apple Health sync

Formcast reads your activity from HealthKit with your permission, and that’s what powers your weekly league score.

Share a program by link

Send a program you built to someone else with a link.

Free tools

Four calculators you can use without the app.

Some of the maths inside Formcast is useful on its own, so it’s on the web for free — the same formulas the app uses, giving the same numbers you’d see on the guided set screen. No account, no sign-up, nothing to install; they run in your browser. Use them on their own, or as a way to see how the app thinks before you download it.

TDEE & maintenance calorie calculator

Mifflin–St Jeor, with an activity multiplier and protein, carb, fat and fiber targets. Metric or imperial.

One-rep max calculator

Epley, with a full rep-max and percentage table. The same 1RM maths behind PR detection in the app.

Barbell plate calculator

Enter a target weight and bar, get the exact plates to load per side. Rounds down, never overloads.

Warm-up set calculator

The 40/60/80 percent ramp to your working set, rounded to loadable plates, with the plates to load per side.

Before you download

What Formcast doesn’t do.

Most of these you’d find out in the first ten minutes anyway. Here they are up front instead.

There’s no Android version.
Formcast is iPhone only. There is no Android app and none is being offered here.
It doesn’t connect to Garmin, Strava, Whoop, Coros, or Hevy.
There are no integrations with those services. Formcast reads activity from Apple Health only — if your device writes into Apple Health, that data can reach Formcast that way.
There is no free tier.
You get a free trial. After that, Formcast is a paid subscription, and the app is behind a paywall. Nothing here is free forever.
The weekly league is partly bots.
It’s a scoreboard, not a community. See the league section.
The future-body images are AI illustrations.
They are not predictions of your body and not medical advice.
Photo calorie estimates are estimates.
AI food analysis and barcode data are approximations you should sanity-check, not weighed lab values.

Questions people actually ask.

What does it cost?

It starts with a free trial. After that it’s a subscription billed through your Apple ID. The trial length and current price are shown on the App Store listing and in the app before you confirm — that’s the authoritative number, so we point you there rather than printing one here that could go stale.

How do I cancel?

Open iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Formcast. Cancelling stops future renewals and you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

Do I have to give it Apple Health access?

No. The app works without it. Your weekly league score is computed from Apple Health activity, so without permission the league won’t score you.

Can I keep the program I already run?

Yes — paste it in as text and Formcast parses it into a trackable plan. You can also build one manually or have AI draft one.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes, from inside the app: Settings → Delete account. It’s immediate and irreversible. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Is this medical or coaching advice?

No. Formcast is a training and food-logging tool. It doesn’t diagnose, treat, or supervise anything. If you have a medical condition or an injury, talk to a qualified professional before starting a program.

Start with the next set.
